Bringing disruptive hope to disrupted families.

"We loved you before we knew you. Even when there was just hope for you, we loved you."
WHO WE ARE & WHAT WE DO
disrupted but not disheartened
Disruptive Hope is an organization designed to bring hope to families who have experienced a disrupted adoption. These adoptive families matched with a mother, but the match was never brought to fruition. It can occur at any point in the process, even after the birth of a baby, and potentially months after the adoptive parents have brought this child into their home.
When adoptive families match, they agree to a certain amount of “at risk” funds that are lost if the match is disrupted. These funds care for a mother's medical visits and living expenses between the time of match through a period after the birth. On average, each couple loses about $15,000.
A mother placing her baby for adoption can change her mind for many reasons. While it's a financial loss for adoptive families, these funds provide basic physical and emotional needs to women in unimaginable circumstances. We celebrate moms who choose to parent their babies and fully support every mother's right to do what she feels is in the best interest of her child. We wish all of these moms love and peace!

While some adoptive families can sustain these financial losses, over 50% must pause their adoption process to fundraise for a second time. This can be extremely daunting as the family is often grieving the loss of a child they thought would be their own. About 1 in 3 of these families walk away from adoption, but 93% of families who stay in the process and match again will have a successful adoption.

We are here to give loving support to these adoptive families, both financially and emotionally. In partnership with the Community Foundation of Cleveland and Bradley County, we established this fund to benefit families with a disrupted match and significant financial need in order to start again. Through the Disruptive Hope Support Network, we are building a lasting network of disrupted match families, carrying each other emotionally during a challenging time.

HOW WE SUPPORT ADOPTIVE FAMILIES
providing hope through community

FINANCIAL SUPPORT
This fund acts as a charitable investment account. Anyone can contribute cash, stocks, or other assets for a tax deduction and/or to avoid capital gains taxes. These funds are then invested for tax-free growth. Our adoption consulting groups and agencies then alert us of disrupted match families with the greatest financial need. Funds are then granted to these families via charitable non-profit organizations to allow them to continue their adoption journey. This fund is a 501c3 and may be eligible for employer matches.

EMOTIONAL SUPPORT
Even with a wonderful support system, navigating the emotions of a disrupted adoption can be overwhelming and isolating. Most families don't know anyone who can truly empathize with their grief or who understand re-entering the adoption process. We offer a support network connecting disrupted match families with others who experienced a similar loss. They can provide encouragement, wisdom, or a much needed listening ear. This is available to any disrupted match family, not only those with financial need.
